Growing up in the small winter town of Elkford, tucked away in British Columbia’s East Kootenay region of the South Rocky Mountains, Ben has always been fascinated by the mountains. He began snowboarding at the age of 4 and has spent the last 28 years expanding his knowledge and skill of the sport.
After completing 2 years of his Bachelor of Engineering degree at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Ben transferred to the University of Victoria where he completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a specialization in Management and Entrepreneurship in 2012. During this time, Ben spent half a year in Hong Kong studying cross-cultural negotiations and working as an intern for a local technology startup company. Ben has now travelled to more than 25 countries and enjoys studying tourism best practices so that he can leverage them back home.
Ben is best referred to as a jack of all trades having spent the last 10 years in a wide-variety of tourism roles ranging from General Manager and Business Operator, to Sales Manager, to Marketing Manager, to Operations and Human Resources Manager.
In 2019, after spending 10 years managing British Columbia’s largest whale watching operation, Ben left his position, sold his house in Victoria, and moved to Whistler to join the team and Bella Coola Heli Sports and to pursue his childhood dream of working in the ski and snowboarding industry.
